My name is Carrie Herbst and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist practicing Psychotherapy, providing consultation to parents and caregivers, and leading workshops and parenting groups in San Jose, CA. I work primarily with children, teens, parents, and families.
I have worked with children and families across different landscapes for over 15 years. My background is in education, mental health consultation, and individual and family therapy. Working with children, teens, parents/caregivers, educators, and community services providers over the years, I recognize the importance of working from the understanding that all people exist within systems, and that no one develops in isolation.
Often what brings someone to seek counseling, either for themselves or for their child, is being faced with a challenge they need support navigating. This problem may result from an atypical experience or be more pervasive, and can bring about feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, low self-worth, communication issues, or many more. Taking the risk to ask for help is the first step on the road toward healing and growth.
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus in the Expressive Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2010.
Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is important. I offer a complimentary 15 minute in-person or phone consultation to help you in this process. During this meeting or call we will explore what it would mean to work together, if it would be a good fit, pricing, and any other questions you might have. Please contact me today by email or phone to set up a time to talk.
