My name is Carrie Herbst and I’m a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. In addition to my psychotherapy practice, I also provide consultation to parents and caregivers. I work with adults, teens, & children.
Often what brings someone to seek counseling, either for themselves or for their child, is being faced with a challenge they need support navigating. This problem may result from an atypical experience or be more pervasive, and can bring about feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, low self-worth, communication issues, or many more. Taking the risk to ask for help is the first step on the road toward healing and growth.
I have worked with children and families across different landscapes for over 15 years. My background is in education, mental health consultation, and individual and family therapy. Working with children, teens, parents/caregivers, educators, and community services providers over the years, I recognize the importance of working from the understanding that all people exist within systems, and that no one develops in isolation. I believe that all parents are the experts on their children; my role is to come alongside families in stressful or challenging moments to provide an opportunity for growth and change.
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a focus in the Expressive Arts from the California Institute of Integral Studies in 2010.
